again!

Do you think they know about the dollar store a few blocks down on Court Street? They sell scrubby brushes for next to nothing!

Revisiting the ceiling tile

Remember this old brown friend? Its been a while and they still haven't bothered repairing it.

In November 2014 I posted a picture of this same corner ceiling. This is a year later....
Maybe the coffee machine upstairs leaks?

I cleaned it myself.

The shower had a thick orange mucus-like coating building up. This isn't the result of a missed day of cleaning, more like months and months without a scrub brush having made contact with the tile.
Out of curiousity, I grabbed a towel and ran my finger through the muck. It came off as easier than the homecoming queen's gown.
Below are pictures of before the wipe, where I left a trail of clean, and the towel with its orange mucus stain.

You'd think a daily scrub down of a shower would be common practice for a gym. But apparently not this one. Its filthy!

scrub-a-dub-dub-dub. Don't catch the flu in the shower.

These shower curtains are amazing. You would think all day with soapy water would mean they might be vaguely clean. But instead they have developed a magical ecosystem of their own. Soap resistant bacteria colony? probably.

this is the replacement

At some point they replaced the ceiling with this soggy brown one.
Whats horrifying is that this is the improvement!

the irony of soap

This soap holder is covered in so much mold that it is brown.

Aint no mountain high enough

The staff must have been too busy fighting the mold, the soaking wet floor, the rotting ceiling, and the mystery stink to find time for the laundry.

wash that man right out of my hair...

All I can say is O-M-FUCKING-G

again: OH MY FUCKING GOD!

drinking toxic waste to stay hydrated

The top picture is a corner in the sauna. Heat + moisture = bacteria. So why are they not cleaning it daily?
About ten days ago I noticed an empty can of RedBull on the floor of the sauna. (who drinks Red Bull? thats toxic waste. Its like the Anti-Gym!) That can of RedBull has sat on the floor of the sauna for at least ten days, which leads me to conclude no one has even mopped the floor of the sauna in ten days.

don't look up!

The men's locker room at the gym has a bacteria outbreak that would result in most dining establishments being shut down and condemned. Luckily, the gym hasn't started serving milkshakes and fires, so they are allowed to have bacteria laced ceilings.

I've been watching this shit grow for months and I know that all it takes is a spray bottle with some bleach. If they don't improve this, i might just bring in bleach and deal with this one on my own to prove my point of how easily these problems are solved.

16th street spawns CDC nightmare

I'm fairly certain that a John Carpenter movie started with something similar to this gum wad.
Because the cleaning crew never actually looks at the showers when they clean them, this wad has been growing for a couple months. I expect it soon starts its world domination.

Teenagers, please avoid sex at all costs....it's always the slutty teens who die first in these situations.

The Curtains match the tiles

I snapped this photo because the navy blue curtain is now the same beige as the tiles. But when I returned home and looked at it, I noticed the beige stripe going up the wall on the right. Apparently the mold is not picky: tile or polyester curtain. It knows both places are safe from bleach, scrub brushes, disinfectant, or even the gaze the management's eyes.

shower curtains

The gym on 8th ave and 16th street has replaced all their shower curtains with clear plastic that goes to the floor and then fabric that layers next to it and only goes to your knees.
The result? An awful lot of moisture trapped between those layers and offering bacteria a lovely warm home.
Since they blew their budget on new curtains, they have not been able to invest in proper training for the cleaning staff and now I present the resulting bacteria colonies.

Clogged Arteries

I was showering today at the gym and the drain started to back up.
I pulled the drain up and there was a glob of something (hair, semen, soap, and poop?) a full six inches long hanging from the drain.

Then inside the drain pipe I could see that the circumference of the pipe had about 1/4" to 1/2"of the same grey-brown substance lining it. Like an artery clogged with cholesterol, the pipe was completely entrenched in this vile goop.

I immediately dropped the drain cover to the tile floor and went for my camera. When i leaned over to snap these photos the smell was overwhelming. I cannot quite describe it but I thought I was going to throw up. (i blame that nausea for the blurry picture.)

Poop on the Soap?

I cannot be sure if this is feces or bacteria or mud but I didn't snap this photo until the second day!
I saw it one day, I didn't have my phone with me. When I came back the next day it was still smeared all over the soap dispenser.
I would not have wanted to clean it either but THAT IS YOUR JOB! You are given money in exchange for cleaning the gym. If house keeping is not going to do their job, can my membership dues be lowered?

condom on shower floor

The dirtiest filthiest find ever!
A condom on the shower floor. I can't think of anything to say other than EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

16th street wins again

Again, 16th street is a real winner! I couldn't make this shit up if i tried. The soap dispenser had moldy scum ON THE NOZZLE!
Same shower stall had the mold growing along the side of the dispenser.

Cockroachs? figures.

Am i surprised to see roaches in the showers? No.
Was i surprised to see the same roach the next day? (or at least a roach in the same shower.) Again, not really. Its not as if anyone actually cleans the showers every night.

outside shower floor

You shower off with the super clean water and fancy clean soap and then they expect you to walk thru this crude to reach your locker.

bubble gum grows!

Remember the bubble gum wad i promised to follow? Well its growing. Its spawned plenty of baby piles all over Manhattan but this one is definitely the mother.
